Walden 7 organizes itself around sixteen interior courtyards — the communal spaces that give the building its social logic, the voids that break the mass into livable fragments. This frame looks directly into one: the terracotta facade panels flanking both sides, the near-black shadow of the void framing two horizontal openings, and through them, the courtyard's interior walls revealed in sage green with lavender stripe detailing. The color shift is deliberate and complete — from the warm terracotta of the building's exterior skin to the cool mint of its interior, two palettes coexisting here by Bofill's design. The composition is nearly symmetrical, the void cutting through the facade in a bold cross, the two levels each showing a different register of the courtyard's decoration: columns, stripes, the geometry of an inward-facing world.
