In Andalusian architecture, shadow is not the absence of light — it is the point. Patios, arcades, deep-set apertures: the traditional built environment of Seville is organized around the management of the sun, the creation of relief, the choreography of shade. The Metropol Parasol continues that tradition at structural scale. Shot from below and to the side, the canopy's arc curves across the upper right of the frame — the modules catching the afternoon sun at an angle that divides each panel precisely in two: one half white, one half deep shadow, the alternating triangles producing a pattern as graphic as any tilework in the city below. The deep blue sky fills the rest.
