Xaveer De Geyter Architects designed the Provinciehuis as a faceted, origami-like volume clad in a white skin punctuated by triangular glazing — a formal language that rejects the orthogonal grid almost entirely, turning a government building into something closer to a geometric proposition. The triangles are the building's primary argument: not windows in any conventional sense, but acute blue lozenges pressed into the folded surface at angles that shift depending on where you stand, the glass catching sky in ways a rectangle never could. Here the camera locks onto that surface close enough to dissolve all sense of scale, the white panels dividing into flat and angled planes while the dark grey of an adjacent facet cuts a hard diagonal across the right side of the frame — two faces of the same building reading as entirely different objects. Antwerp has always had a taste for the theatrical; De Geyter simply found a way to make the administration building the most interesting thing on the block.
