Xaveer De Geyter Architects designed the Provinciehuis as a building that earns its authority through geometry rather than grandeur — a disciplined white volume whose facade is animated by a repeating pattern of blue triangular recesses, pointing downward in staggered rows across the entire surface. The triangles are not ornament in the classical sense but a structural logic made decorative: the same form, repeated and offset, turning a flat white panel into something that catches and holds light differently at every hour. Here the building's corner cuts diagonally across the upper right of the frame, the facade receding into the lower edge while a saturated navy sky fills the left two-thirds — a composition that makes the triangle grid feel like it is peeling away from the atmosphere rather than sitting in front of it. The blue of the recesses and the blue of the sky are close enough in tone to rhyme without quite matching, which is either an accident of the Antwerp light or the most Belgian thing imaginable.
