One form. Three colors. A near-black vertical gap bisects the coral wall from top to bottom — a passage, a structural void, the building opening to something unseen — and centered on it, a single amber cube projects into the frame, its warm yellow face catching the full Costa Blanca sun, its shadow falling to the left in a precise, bold shape against the coral surface. The composition is almost perfectly symmetrical: coral wall on both sides, darkness at center, yellow at the axis. Josef Albers spent decades making paintings that asked what happens when one color sits inside another. Bofill poses the same question in three dimensions: what does yellow do against coral, held in front of near-black, with the Mediterranean sun providing the shadow? The answer fills the frame.
