Shadow is not the absence of color at Muralla Roja — it is color transformed. The same wall that reads as coral or red in direct sun appears, in deep shade, as something far richer: a burgundy so dark it anchors the composition like ballast. This frame places that depth on the left — a large, flat wall entirely in shadow — against which a single pink tower rises at center, catching the Costa Blanca sun on its face, the contrast between the two tones dramatic enough to read as two entirely different buildings. On the right, white chimney forms and their lavender shadow faces add a third register. Between all of it, the deep blue sky opens in narrow vertical cuts. The full range of Bofill's color system, compressed into a single frame: light, shadow, and the colors that live between them.
