The rooftop of Muralla Roja exists at a remove from the building's own logic. Down in the passages, Bofill's color system is functional — each hue a navigational signal, each transition a cue. Up here, the same colors become purely compositional. Shot looking up at the junction of a pink terrace wall and the deep Costa Blanca blue, two white verticals rise from a ledge casting one clean horizontal shadow. The coral red wall of an adjacent section fills the right half of the frame, flat and unmodulated. Three color planes, two white verticals, one shadow — and a stillness that reads less like architecture and more like a de Chirico: forms isolated in too much Mediterranean light, arranged just so.
