Marrakech is famous for its color, but the color is not a single thing. The rose-pink lime plaster that defines the city reads differently at every angle, in every shadow, at every hour — the same pigment revealing itself as blush in flat light, as coral where the sun strikes directly, as near-burgundy in deep shade. This frame shows that range without leaving a single hue. The sunlit planes occupy the upper portion: pale blush on the left, a narrow vertical element holding a deeper rose at center. A ledge projects from the wall at mid-frame, and beneath it, the shadow takes everything warm out of the pink and leaves something that reads as dark without becoming cold. The image is entirely one color. The Moroccan sun makes it feel like several.
