Not every wall in Marrakech is a monument. Much of the medina is this: residential buildings in various states of repair, their rose pink plaster weathered and patched, their windows painted in the blue-green that Marrakech pairs with its signature pink as naturally as the city pairs light with shade. Six windows across two levels, their deep-set reveals casting V-shaped shadows inward — the angled splays a practical response to thick walls and a fierce sun, widening the opening without sacrificing the wall's thermal mass. A curtain moves in one window. Another stands open to the street. The plaster at the top carries its repairs in grey patches, the wall's history written on its surface. This is the medina that residents actually live in — not restored, not photographed for guidebooks, just present and ongoing.
