The series returns to its central subject: a wall, a shadow, and an unexpected detail. Here the wall is salmon — warmer and lighter than the terracottas elsewhere, the color of the city in late afternoon — and the diagonal shadow is precise, cutting from the upper corner to the lower right with the confidence of a line drawn rather than cast. Two electrical junction boxes sit in the lit zone above the shadow line: cream plastic, entirely mundane, their wires running between them and down the wall. They are not architecture. But in the right light, on the right surface, even a junction box can hold a composition. Lisbon asks very little of what's on its walls and consistently gets more than it deserves.
