The Southbank Centre doesn't hide its structure — it declares it. The triangular concrete supports visible here are not incidental to the building's appearance; they are the appearance, the structural logic pushed to the surface and given a geometric form bold enough to cast its own shadows. And the shadows are extraordinary: deep black triangles pressed against the board-marked concrete, repeating across both levels of the terrace, the building drawing itself in light. Blue glass holds the color note at either edge. White railings mark the terrace lines. Everything else is concrete and the shapes it makes when the sun gets low enough.
