The balconies at Corbusierhaus Berlin were designed for living — for laundry and plants and morning coffee — but they also do something Le Corbusier almost certainly planned: they cast shadows. As the sun moves, those shadows migrate across the colored panels behind them, adding a fourth dimension to the facade's already complex geometry. Shot at the right moment, the shadow becomes as assertive as the color it crosses — the building drawing itself in light, revising its own composition hour by hour.
