The grey section presents itself as the building's restraint — the moment where Piano steps back from the primary color agenda. But look at the windows. In the left pane, visible as a warm reflection in the deep blue glass, is an orange: another face of the building, caught and held in the window of the grey one. The colored sections of Central Saint Giles are always present, even in the parts that appear neutral — one facade reflecting in another, the building carrying its own color within itself. Shot straight on, the grey ceramic fins and their layered horizontal detail fill the rest of the frame, precise and cool. But the reflection insists the color is never fully absent. The building knows what it's hiding.
