Central Saint Giles turns a different color depending on which way you face it. The red elevation is its most urgent face — the ceramic fins warmer and more insistent than the yellow, their layered profile casting fine shadows that add depth to a surface that could have been flat. Shot this close, the blue glass of the windows becomes the only counterpoint: cool reflected sky pressing back against warm ceramic, floor after floor, each insisting on the other's presence. Piano understood that color works by contrast.
