Renzo Piano conceived Central Saint Giles as a color injection — a deliberate attempt to do something about a grey corner of London that had resisted character for decades. The yellow ceramic fins are not decorative; they're structural to Piano's argument: that a building can announce itself through pigment as confidently as through form. Here, with a conventional grey glass tower visible on the right, that argument is at its most legible. One building does what every building around it does. The other refuses entirely. The yellow wins — not because it's louder, but because it's committed. A building that has made up its mind.
