Where Barbican 13 showed the arches as a bold classical gesture seen from a distance, this view moves closer and finds something more domestic. The concrete column centered between them is purely functional — a structural divider topped with a louvered ventilation grille, the building's mechanical needs made plainly visible. But through the arched glass on either side, curtains: white fabric catching the light, the interior quietly present at the edge of the frame. The Barbican's grandest architectural gesture, and just behind it, someone's living room. The gap between ambition and the ordinary life it contains — caught in the same photograph.
